From the East
Dear Brethren,
I know. I am beyond late. My apologies. Consider this the May / June trestle
board.
It has been an eventful time.
Our baseball team finished its season. I have no idea what their record was; that
was not the goal. My understanding is that the kids had a great time. Success. May 30
was a cookout for the team. My thanks to the brothers that could attend.
June 2 was a highlight for the year. It was the Grand Master’s visit. About half a
dozen brothers got their 50 year pins; one brother from New Jersey received his 60 year
pin at that state’s request. The format of the meeting was a bit different. The GM’s visit
was actually done as people finished their meals downstairs. The meal did run late, but I
am glad that it did. By having the meat of the meeting on the first floor, it had a much
more relaxed and enjoyable feel. Fred and his team served eggplant parmesan and
scallops. Being a meatatarian, I chose the scallops and they were excellent. Few got
the word that it was an agape lodge, and we may have violated the rules as lodge was
open during the serving of wine. There was some grumbling..Oh well. It all did not stop
the GM from his wine. Of special note was the attendance of Dave Marshall. It had been
over a year since his troubles began and it was great to see him.
My thanks go to all the brothers who put in extraordinary efforts to bring off the
Grand Master’s visit.
At our next meeting, we will be adjourning for the summer. September 1 is the
first meeting of the fall.
September 12-13 is the proposed date for the trip to the mountain cabin. Let’s
discuss if this date is good or if there is a better one at the next meeting.
Fraternally
